We won the Judges Award at the State Competition!

Robot Features

We decided to use 2 remote controls to score points faster in Skills Driver-controlled game.  We programmed the partner joystick to control arm, scoop and ejector, while leaving wheels and claw under main joystick control. We also made a super-duper autonomous code that scores 52 points.

Skills Challenge

The day started on a low note.  One of our motors kept jamming, and we scored 0 points on 2 Skills Programming attempts because the robot could not lift the mobile goal correctly and transport it over the pipes.  We had to replace a motor during the competition.  Luckily, our friends from Team 27514A (Falcons) had a spare motor which they lent to us.

We were able to score 60 points in driver-controlled game, but our autonomous code did not work as expected and only scored 20 points (the first out of 3 mobile goals).  One of the cones was placed too close to the mobile goal, and confused our infrared range finder.  But we were still ranked 2nd among Middle School teams, and 6th overall.

Tournament

In the competition we got 3 wins and 4 losses. We got 6 win points, 20 autonomous points and 338 strength of schedule points. This put us in 22nd place and we were accepted into the 6th alliance with the Falcons and Hypothetical Speakers. We lost in the Quarter-finals.  In the first Quater-final match, our partner broke an axel and could not move at all.  In our second Quater-final match, our partner got stuck between the pipes in the 10 point zone, and also was unable to play.  No luck!

We received a commendation for our teamwork, when our robot helped our alliance partner who got stuck:
